Our Story
As with many things in life, Organized TravelTM began with an idea based on personal experiences. As an adolescent I traveled extensively in the summer months playing sports and I was often gone for weeks or months at a time. As you can imagine, packing for those trips was challenging. In middle school, I created a bag idea as part of a class project that is now the inception moment of Organized Travel, our US Patented and Trademarked luggage system that is a 100% self-funded small business Head Quartered near Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fast forward nearly 20 years, a year after moving into our first home in the Las Vegas area, my wife, Ashley, and I began discussing and imagining a way to organize and customize the interior layout of suitcases, which would become Organized TravelTM. Over the next several years, we would welcome our son, Gavin, who was followed by sisters, Ava Marie and Alejandria. During that time we started our research company, Innovative Research and Analysis LLC, and moved houses to accommodate our growing family. Every step along the way, our concept and design ideas for effective luggage organization continued to grow and evolve.
In all honesty, it began with a cardboard box, scissors, a hot glue gun, and a work schedule that has seen more overnight hours writing reports, analyzing data, changing diapers, and yes... building prototypes. As my designs evolved from rudimentary cardboard boxes, to foam core boards, and finally to sewing fabric-wrapped foam core and dowel rods affixed to an old suitcase with velro - the notion of this idea being something that could be patented suddenly emerged.
Initially, we planned -- well, I planned -- to file the patent paperwork myself and I started digging through USPTO documentation and requirements. My wife, watching papers pile around me as they too often have in our now more than 20 years together, lovingly quipped, "you know, it might be easier to just pay someone to do this who knows what they're doing." And with that, my efforts and attention shifted to finding a patent attorney. After only a few hours, we found Dale Ream of Ream Law Firm and our US Patent process had begun. It took a couple of meetings and a couple of checks, but within a month Dale was conducting a patent search and updating us on the progress. He was excited to report our idea was unique and qualified for a US Patent, an application process he started almost immediately and completed within 12-months.
From there, he recommended Tyler Harrell of PRG Prototyping, who's team worked diligently to take the patented idea and turn it into an initial prototype with engineer drawings and a manufacturing plan to include tooling requirements and a recommendation for a manufacturer, Gary Kellmann at KDK Technology Ltd. Over the past several years, working with his Project Management team and through the shutdowns and chaos of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have moved the final prototype from an insert to a standalone luggage line designed specifically for the Organized Travel system. And now, after all of the ideas, years of conceptual design, patenting and prototyping processes, and manufacturing design... We are ready! Thank you for sharing in our story and we hope wherever you go, you go organized!
